Cleo Deones distributed letter she sent to Gary Webb and Glenn Sullivan   regarding algae in Wildwood Lake. She left before meeting officially started.

 

Meeting called to order at 7:40pm

 

Chair:

·       Minutes approved

·       Mayor George Jackson concerned about lily pads at Birchwood. It was noted that treatment had been done.

 

Borough Manager:

·       Reported that five (5) inflatable rafts were identified. Property owners were notified by both phone calls and mailed letters stating that the rafts can’t be there permanently. The owners of the rafts were advised if they didn’t comply they would receive a summons. As of this date the property owners were still in non compliance. Another round of phone calls will be made before summons are sent.

·       Rock wall in Birchwood will be repaired first week of October

·       Leaves in Birchwood will be cleaned with hydrorake

·       Discussion of lily pads in Birchwood.

 

Allied Biological Report:

·       Discussion concerning algae in Wildwood Lake. Graphs of total phosphorous and nitrate levels on Wildwood Lake and Mountain Lake 2003-2007 distributed to committee. It was noted that the amount of

nitrate and phosphorous were both at two (2) times the limiting levels

in Wildwood Lake. The nitrate levels were supporting the growth of

filamentous algae.

·       Applications of Cutrene, Reward and  Copper Sulfate were used.

Captan will be applied on Wednesday, August 8, 2007.

·       Only one alum treatment has been applied. Discussion that it might be

necessary to apply two (2) alum treatments to correct problem. We are

only budgeted for one (1) alum treatment.  Committee consensus to

plan for two (2) treatments in budget for next year.

·       Discussion concerning the use of fertilizers by both professional landscapers and property owners with regard to nitrate levels in Wildwood.

·       Chair suggested that a summary letter of the conditions of Wildwood

Lake and usage of fertilizers be sent to Wildwood Lake property owners.

·       Discussion of fecal count in Mountain Lake

·       Crystal Lake will be treated for algae bloom

·       Grunden Pond scheduled for algae treatment

·       Suggestion of putting Lake Survey reports on web site
