n August Meeting minutes – Accepted

Borough Manager:

n Discussion of dam spillway boards. Fiberglass boards on order.

n Manager discussed lowering of lake levels. Committee provided perspective and commentary. Agreed that notification would be critical. Some conflict with a mid September sailing regatta. Observation that DEP requires more lake lowering permit work than in the past. Aiming for mid October if possible.

n Discussion of clean-up and the Canal. Discussion of obtaining access. DPW Director discussed issues of access, damage to access properties, disposal of spoils, all related to the Canal.

n DPW Director discussed other current work, provided report and pictures. Discussion of Grunden’s Pond. Apparently access available through property owner cooperation. Discussion of spillways, valves, stainless steel on order, lake level measurement (Wildwood/Mountain about 5” below target), engineering, end of swimming season work, historical perspective.

Allied Biological:

n Discussion of water lily control. Treatment was last year and there has been more re-growth than one would anticipate in the first year after treatment.

n Discussion of Dissolved Oxygen in Birchwood Lake. Discussion of aeration, diffusers, other circulation alternatives. Allied to investigate aerator alternatives and possible additional capacity.

n Discussion of late season weeds, algae, treatments, conditions. Allied will review anecdotal reports.

New Business: Discussion of creating an annual report of catch basin cleaning. Since record keeping is required by storm water management regulation, much of that may be available.

Discussion of selling the bathymetric maps, places where maps might be placed. An agenda item to see how maps might be sold.
