Old Business
- Jim
Bailey announced the resignation of Richard Uranker, Steve Shaw will be
the new liaison.
- TSC
meetings will be held quarterly in September/December/March/June
- TSC
terms expire in December. A final decision on term length yet to be
determined
- Joe
Tempesta reported that Chief Tovo has applied for grant money that would
enable a sidewalk for Kenilworth that would tie into the High School. He
expects to hear a response by the end of the year or possibly early
2009.The phone polls are expensive to move so they plan to work around
them as well as Drainage on Kenilworth and the catch basin on Crane.
- The
replacement of the Lake Drive sidewalks from Lake to Midvale was approved.
- The
crosswalks and stop lines at Lake & Lake are also being reworked
- There
is a proposal to do away with the teacher parking spots after holiday break
that are closest to Wildwood.
- Efforts
to affect Traffic Calming include requests for crosswalks on Melrose,
Hanover & Kenilworth.
Tovo feels that it is only a matter of when the borough can get to
it. The Board of Education is not in favor of either speed bumps or
crosswalks if the existing sidewalks appear to be working. They will
revisit the topic in December.
- Free-standing
25mph signs for Melrose were funded by a recent grant.
- The
Borough currently has a contract with Denville for Line Painting. Mountain
Lakes currently does not own a line stripper machine.
New Business:
- Car-free
zones for Halloween are once-again expected to be quite busy. Laura is
collecting candy and is worried about donations.
- Green
Traffic: Jim Bailey has requested that the board Òthink-outside-the-boxÓ
and explore solutions to encourage students to walk and bike to school.
The next board meeting will be on December 16th
