Children's Department

The Children's Room has materials suitable for non-readers to young adults. Fiction, including picture books, Easy Readers and Chapter Books, non-fiction, biographies, reference books, junior audio books and magazines are located in this section.

There is a separate TEEN Area with fiction, non-fiction and biography sections.

Children's Computers

Two computers are available with a selection of childrens games and educational software.  They are equiped with colorful keyboards and earphones to allow the each child to get the full multimedia experience.

Children's Programs

The Library Summer Reading Program is also very popular.  It is held during July for pre-school through 5th grades.  Times are staggered according to age-group.  The program includes reading, listening and participating in interesting and instructional games and talks on various subjects by local teachers and performers.  Recent programs have included ancient undersea reptiles, puppet shows, magic and humor, science, acting, dancing and much more.  A nominal fee is charged and registration is required.

The Library holds PJ Story Time during the December holidays for pre-school children.  Pajama Storytime is in the early evening, usually at 6:30-7:30 pm.  Bedtime-type stories are read and refreshments are served.  Register at the library or call 973-334-5095.  Wear your PJs!  The program is for for Mountain Lakes residents only.
