MLHS’s BrainFood: Incredible ED-ible Evening of Food & Food for Thought

World Famous Mind-reading Mentalist Robert Channing will headline the BrainFood event as he masterfully illustrates the strange and incredible powers of the mind.

Prepare to be amazed and completely blown away by the World Famous Mind-reading Mentalist Robert Channing who masterfully illustrates the strange and incredible mysteries of the mind. Channing will astound you with his sense of humor and uncanny ability to discern almost anything you are thinking about…where you want to go on vacation, the exact amount of money in your pocket, special dates, etc.  Channing, who impressed millions on “America’s Got Talent,” is the headline act of the first ever BrainFood event, an incredible, EDible evening of mind-stretching activities, entertainment and food for body and mind on Saturday, June 10th at  Mountain Lakes High School, 96 Powerville Rd.

BrainFood is hosted by the ML Student Government Association, ML Board of Education, ML Alumni Association and Friends of the Arts (FOTA).  All proceeds will benefit Mountain Lakes Schools.

The evening starts with three incredible ED-ible activities from 6 – 8 p.m., before the Main Events at 8 p.m. in the auditorium.

1) STEAM Showcase (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts and Math) Performances and Exhibits – Explore the latest high tech, creative and artistic programs Mountain Lakes Schools have to offer.  Throughout the school, K-12 students will be demonstrating the skills they’ve learned in various programs such as robotics, maker spaces, Destination Imagination, musical ensembles, drama, art, sculpture, drafting & design, solar sprint cars and more. Informational kiosks and displays will illustrate proposed referendum renovations and additions and how they are expected to enhance curriculum, programs, and security, as well as efficiency and functionality.

2) Dinner – Bring your appetite because Chef John is serving up his (locally) famous NY Strip Steak Dinner amid a backdrop of performances by musical cabaret-style ensembles and entertainers in the MLHS Cafeteria.

Award winning saxophonist Alex Laurenzi returns to his Mountain Lakes High School Alma Mater with his acclaimed Quartet Jazz Combo.

3) Silent Auction – Here’s your chance to bid on exclusive, one of a kind items and services, including:

At 8:00 p.m. curtains open on the warm up performance by the acclaimed Alex Laurenzi Quartet, one of the hottest up and coming jazz combos in the Northeast led by Laurenzi, a Mountain Lakes High School alumnus and winner of the National Young Arts Foundation Award for Jazz Saxophone and many other national awards.

The night culminates with Mentalist Robert Channing’s performance at 8:30 and the announcement of the Silent Auction winners.
