4March
Meeting minutes – Accepted
4Discussion of drain maintenance and DPW work.
Borough
Manager:
4Discussion of Allied Biological having been awarded the annual contract
by Council at a lower price. Allied discussed activities within the contract since the
Committee had not seen the bids due to the meetings canceled by weather
problems earlier in 2011. Alum
treatments, hourly fees for hydroraking, other
issues.
4 Discussion of Canal cleaning. DPW to address obstruction removal. Some discussion with
the mosquito control commission.
Clearing the overhead branches. Discussion of preparing the Canal in
advance of July 4. Committee
asked for a plan with actions and times; to be discussed at the next Committee
meeting.
4 Addling
program set. USDA contracted.
4 Discussion of Wildwood dam and benchmarks. Looking at more accurate managing of
water flow.
4Discussion of aerator use and potential expansion of existing coverage.
4Manager
discussed budgeting issues.
Putting aside some amount for dam maintenance.
Allied Biological:
4Hydroraking at GrundenŐs pond. Allied ready for 4/11 depending on confirmation from
Borough. Discussion of spoil
collection, parking of hydrorake, other logistics.
4The
pollution discharge permit necessitated by recent court decisions (needing both
normal permits and a pesticide discharge plan under the StateŐs permit) has
been postponed until October. So
this season is set, pending response from NJ DEP. The cold weather so far suggests that delays will have
little impact on early Spring results.
4Surveys
will begin soon.
4 First
treatment will probably be alum in Wildwood. Since that does not require a
permit, delays at the State will not affect alum.
New
Business:
4 Question
on whether there was any project which should be
addressed before the more elaborate Federal permitting process came into
play. Not really. The change is aimed at pesticides. So the permitting process canŐt be done
far in advance.
Old
Business:
4Discussion of the Cove Project for the Centennial. Manager discussed progress, conceptual
plans, bids received. Model in Library.
