On June 13, 2007 Chief Robert Tovo, Borough Engineer, Chairman Jim Bailey and myself met to review the traffic and pedestrian calming measures for Powerville Road and at the intersection of Crane and Pocono Roads.  The following is the consensus and recommendation on these two areas.

I.                    Powerville Road

A.     Pedestrian:  Safety Measures

1.      Recommend the Borough Council fund in the 2008 Capital Budget a sidewalk from Morris Avenue to the High School and from the Boulevard to the High School.

2.      That crosswalks be painted at the intersections of Hanover, Melrose, Kenilworth and Wilcox.

B.     Traffic Calming Measures

1.      At the intersection of Hanover install a small traffic island.

2.      At the intersection of Melrose install four way stop signs.

3.      Between Kenilworth and the first High School entrance way install a speed hump.

4.      Between Morris Avenue and the High School exit install two speed humps.

5.      Provide 8 to 10 parallel parking spaces for tennis players along side the tennis courts.

II.                 Crane and Pocono Roads

A.     Traffic Calming Measures

1.      Repaint and extend the double yellow line on Crane Road (headed North) to the intersection of Pocono Road.

2.      Include dotted line to delineate the turn from Crane Road (North) onto Pocono Road.

3.      Continue fog line around the turn from Crane Road (South) onto Pocono Road in order to narrow the turning radius.

4.      Move the stop bar on Pocono (East) further toward the intersection of Crane Road.

5.      Place and maintain “25 MPH Speed Limit” sign on the middle yellow line of Pocono at the intersection of Crane.
