Alex Laurenzi Jazz Quartet to Play at Island Beach August 10th

Join your neighbors and bring a friend to an amazing Jazz concert this summer!
On August 10th at 7:00pm, Alex Laurenzi, alto saxophone, and former Mountain Lakes High School student will be joined by a quartet of musicians at Island Beach for some lakeside jazz. Alex is a current Princeton University student.  He was a member of the Jazz House Kids program for six years and the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Jazz Program for three years as well as a long-time private student of Jim Saltzman. Alex was a member of the award-winning Jazz House Kids Big Band for three years, 2015 Grammy Jazz Session Big Band, 2015 Vail Jazz Workshop, 2014 Brubeck Institute Summer Jazz Colony, and toured Peru in April 2016 with a selected group from Jazz House Kids on behalf of the U.S. Embassy. His awards include two Downbeat Student Soloist Awards, 2016 for High School Best Soloist and 2013 for Junior High School Best Soloist, two honorable mentions from YoungArts Foundation, and two soloist awards from the Essentially Ellington Competition and Festival. He has performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Blue Note, Lima Jazz Festival, Somerville Jazz Festival, and many other venues in the Tri-State Area, both with his own groups and as a member of various bands that have played with many guest stars that include Christian McBride, Joe Lovano, Wycliffe Gordon, David Sanborn, Vincent Gardner, Sheila E., Jose James, John Pizzarelli, Al Jarreau, Tim Ries, and Wynton Marsalis.
