A message from the Mountain Lakes Recreation Department :
SUMMER REC CAMP
As of today, the Summer Rec Camp schedule has been slightly modified. The Borough is awaiting guidelines from the State of NJ to see if Summer Rec Camp will be feasible this year. At this time, we have no access into the schools so we may need to cancel all or portions of the program.
Furthermore, we will continue to monitor the rules and regulations related to social distancing in order to determine, even if the schools are open, if the Summer Rec Camp program will be possible.
If any of the weeks of the Summer Rec Camp are cancelled, all those who registered will receive a full refund for those cancelled weeks. Furthermore, we recognize that even if the Summer Rec Camp does proceed for all or part of the intended schedule, some parents may not feel comfortable sending their children to the program. Full refunds will be provided for any parent who provides at least ten (10) calendar day notice in advance of the week in which their child or children were registered.
TEEN ADVENTURE CAMP:
At this time, we are not accepting registrations for Teen Adventure Camp. As we all can appreciate, the viability of the program will hinge on both social distancing guidelines for bus travel as well as whether the destination will be open to accommodate our participants. The Borough will continue to monitor the situation and make the decision on or before June 5th, 2020 if the program (which starts on June 29th) will proceed forward. If any or all of the weeks are cancelled, all those who have registered for this program will receive a full refund.
We are still planning on providing transportation and registration for the Summer Surf Camp. If there is interest, we could provide an additional week of Surf Camp.
BOROUGH BEACHES, SAILING CAMP, ML SWIM & DIVE:
We are continuing to monitor the current social distancing rules and regulations to determine when, or if, we will be able to open Island and Birchwood Beaches. As we determine the availability of these facilities, we will continue to keep the public informed. Opening date for the Beaches remains June 20th.
PUBLIC PARKS, PLAYGROUNDS AND FIELDS:
ALL township parks, playgrounds and fields are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic until further notice. This includes basketball courts. Individuals violating these rules may be subject to fines and penalties. The Tennis Courts are currently open. Please adhere to all posted rules and regulations.
Of course, our primary objective is to ensure everyone remains healthy and well. We will continue to monitor the situation and send out and/or post notification once we have a better knowledge of when different programs and facilities will be open to the public.
We will continue to take registration for all Recreation Programs as usual. Again, if we are unable to run or hold any program, we will issue refunds for the full amount. For further details, contact the Recreation Department through email at email@example.com.
