MOUNTAIN LAKES BOROUGH COUNCIL CANDIDATES DEBATE
TO BE HELD OCTOBER 26 AT HIGH SCHOOL.
The League of Women Voters Mountain Lakes is hosting a debate featuring the candidates for Borough Council on Wednesday, October 26, 7:30PM at the Mountain Lakes High School Auditorium. Eight candidates are vying for four positions on the council, each with four-year terms. The candidates, all residents of the community, are William Albergo, Lauren Barnett, John E. Horan, Janet L. Horst, Cynthia Korman, John Lester, Douglas McWilliams, and David Shepherd.
“This is not only a critical election year for the country, but also for our community,” shares Mary Alosio-Joelsson, President of the League of Women Voters Mountain Lakes. “From development and low income housing to referendum issues and taxes, local citizens need to be thoroughly informed so they can vote for the representation that aligns with their values. We urge the community to take advantage of this opportunity to hear the candidates debate and share their visions for the future of our town.”
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
